Fusing foil, also called Toner foil, is a foil that reacts to a previously printed text or image. The film and paper is heated and the foil only reacts with the printed toner by a laser printer or digital printing press. This foil can therefore NOT be applied by means of a heated kliche. An inkjet printer is also not usable.

Fuser foil has some advantages but also disadvantages: Below is an overview:
Advantages:
- no die has to be made, which means you can start working faster. You don't have to wait until you have received the die for printing.
- no costs have to be made for making the die.
- very suitable for small editions
- you can work very personalized.

Disadvantages:
- not every toner of every brand is suitable. Initially, sometimes you have to search for the suitable laser printer. A black and white laser printer from the Brother brand, for example, often gives the best results, although we cannot guarantee this.
- if you have a suitable printer, you can sometimes have problems again when replacing the laser cartridge. Sometimes the manufacturer changes the composition of the powder with which it prints, which suddenly gives it different properties.
- the transfer of the foil is often slow, which takes more time. In any case, take the following into account: the thicker the paper/cardboard, the higher the temperature must be set, or decrease the speed.
- you cannot apply relief to your printed matter with this method.
- sometimes the transfer of the foil is not perfect and you have to print extra sheets to obtain sufficiently good results.
- if you want to foil a frame om papier, you often have a lot of loss of foil due to the required roll width.
