History

Founder of the company: Mr. Boudewijn De Lille

After being raised between Linotype machines, other printing press applications and finishing his technical studies it was no real surprise that young Mr. De Lille decided to start working in the graphic industries.

Mr. De Lille didn’t want to work in the family business founded by his father. The blood of entrepreneurs has always run strong in the family and so Mr. Boudewijn started his own company in the year 1966.

The name of the company was easily created: De Lille Boudewijn  = Delbo. From the start the company focused its sales on the smaller utilities for printing houses, like lead fonts and Furniture for printing houses.

At the beginning the company was so small that the company found enough space on the top Floor of his childhood home. Thanks to the knowledge, experience that Mr. De Lille learned in his fathers company, the general knowledge of the graphic industries and his effort the company started to grow. The company name started to be known in a most positive way amongst the customers.

After his marriage with Mss. Nuyttens, his wife started to assist Mr. De Lille by doing the invoicing, accountancy and processing the orders. Shortly after the wedding the new family and business moved to the “Duimpjesvilla” in the same street, a villa build by his grandfather, with a lot of history, but that is a different story, that we might tell on another page. In this new location there a lot more space for the business to expand.

Near the end of the year 1974 the company was reinforced by Mr. Nuyttens Paul, the brother of Madame Nuyttens. After being trained by Mr. De Lille, Mr. Paul started his daily job of visiting customers as a representative.

The company continued to grow and a large customer base was created. Also the range of products kept expanding.

In 1997 the next phase of the expansion of the company started. The lack of space made it necessary to look for a new location with more stock space. In this year the company moved back to the location where the company started. But this  time the entire building was bought by the company.

It was a big moment and at times Mr. Boudewijn had to rely on the patience of the customers and suppliers. But in the end all was worth it: the bigger stock space resulted in a more steady supply. There was now more room to expand the range of products.

In 2004 the son of Mr. Boudewijn, Sigurd joined the company, planning to succeed his father. After intense training and instruction by his father, Mr. Sigurd was able to start modernizing the company. This happened in different phases: first phase(2005-2006) was the development of an extensive website, where many of the products would be promoted.

In the year 2006 the wife of Mr. Sigurd joined the company as well. She took over the responsibilities of Madame Nuyttens.

Second phase of modernising the company was updating the invoicing and accountancy system (2007-2008).

In the year 2011 the third modernization phase started with the work on a new website with webshop options started. The plan is to develop this new website into 4 languages to expand our business to Europe.
