Typographic ink / Adana ink
The typographic inks are specially designed for typo presses. These inks are generally slow drying compared to offset ink. This makes them specially suited for creating a raise on printed documents by using thermographic powders. The powder needs to be able to stick to the printed inks and generally offset inks loose their tackiness to fast.
In time a lot of different types of typographic inks existed but as with the lead fonts most manufacturers ceased production because of decreased demand.
The range of typo inks that we currently sell is limited, but upon request every pantone colour is available. The inks are soya-based and are very slow drying and give a good cover.
If required you can add a special varnish to the ink to increase the drying time even further. Most but of our customers have informed us that this is not really necessary.
These inks can be used on the Heidelberg Platen presses, Heidelberg Cylinder presses, Adana and all other Typographic presses.
